Peer Review Policy

The Bangladesh Journal of Veterinary Medicine (BJVM) employs a single-blind peer review process. In this system, the identities of reviewers are not disclosed to authors, while reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities.

All submitted manuscripts are subject to an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability in terms of the journal’s scope, originality, scientific quality, and adherence to submission guidelines. Manuscripts that pass this screening are submitted for external peer review.

Each manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. Reviewers are selected to ensure objective and competent evaluation and are required to maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.

Reviewers assess manuscripts according to the following criteria:
• Scientific validity and methodological rigor
• Originality and contribution to veterinary medicine
• Compliance with ethical and regulatory standards
• Clarity, coherence, and quality of presentation

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editorial decision may be:
• Accepted
• Accepted subject to minor revisions
• Returned for major revision and resubmission
• Rejected

The final decision on acceptance or rejection is made by the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned handling editor. Editorial decisions are made independently and impartially, without influence from the publisher, sponsoring organizations, or commercial interests, and without discrimination based on authors’ institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, or personal beliefs.

Roles and Responsibilities
Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, confidential, and timely peer review process, for managing conflicts of interest, and for taking appropriate action when concerns arise during review.

Authors are responsible for submitting original work, accurately presenting data, properly acknowledging sources, and disclosing any conflicts of interest relevant to the peer review process.

Reviewers are required to provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations, to declare any conflicts of interest, to maintain confidentiality, and to refrain from using unpublished material for personal advantage.
