Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Bangladesh Journal of veterinary Medicine is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and integrity. This statement outlines the ethical principles and malpractice policies that guide our editorial processes to ensure trust and transparency for authors, reviewers, readers, and the broader scholarly community.
1. Publication and Authorship Ethics
• All submitted manuscripts must represent original work that has not been published previously and is not under consideration elsewhere.
• Authors must ensure that their work is accurate, free of plagiarism, and all sources are appropriately cited.
• All authors listed must have made a significant contribution to the work, and all contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged.
• Any conflicts of interest must be declared by authors upon submission.
2. Peer Review and Editorial Process
• All submissions are subjected to rigorous peer review to ensure scientific accuracy and quality.
• The journal follows a double-blind peer review process, unless otherwise stated, ensuring anonymity of authors and reviewers.
• Editors and reviewers must treat all manuscripts confidentially and should not use information obtained through peer review for personal advantage.
• Editors make final decisions on manuscript acceptance or rejection based on reviewers’ recommendations and journal policies.
3. Handling Misconduct
The journal takes allegations of publication misconduct seriously. Misconduct includes but is not limited to:
• Plagiarism
• Fabrication or falsification of data
• Duplicate publication
• Authorship disputes
• Conflicts of interest not disclosed
• Manipulation of the peer review process
Allegations will be investigated promptly by the editorial board. If misconduct is confirmed, the journal will take appropriate action, including rejection, correction, or retraction of the article, in accordance with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
4. Retractions, Corrections, and Expressions of Concern
• Retractions will be issued in cases of proven misconduct or serious errors that affect the validity of the findings.
• Corrections will be published when minor errors are detected that do not invalidate the research but require clarification.
• Expressions of concern may be issued in cases where concerns have been raised but investigations are ongoing.
5. Conflicts of Interest
All parties involved in the publication process (authors, reviewers, and editors) must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence their decisions or assessments. These disclosures will be made available alongside the published article.
6. Complaints and Appeals
Authors and reviewers may raise concerns about the editorial process. Complaints or appeals should be directed to the editorial office at [journal email address], and will be addressed within a reasonable timeframe following the journal’s complaints procedure.
7. Ethical Guidelines for Research
• Authors must comply with ethical standards related to research involving humans or animals, including obtaining necessary ethics committee approvals and informed consent where applicable.
